How to register SPSS within the TRE

Introduction

As SPSS is a commercial product and has a high cost for commercial use, we limit access to this per-project (for University of Dundee internal projects). If SPSS is required, we will provide you with the address of a licence server which can be used to activate SPSS. For non-University of Dundee TRE users, we will discuss the implications of dependency on SPSS.

 Instructions

The instructions below describe how to set the license server within SPSS. This is a straightforward process which only needs to be done once and should only take a few minutes.

  1. Open SPSS - at the first launch the IBM SPSS Statistics Licensing wizard will show up. The first screen shows some license status. Simply click next.

  2. Select concurrent user license and click next.

  3. Enter the license server address and click next. This will always end in hic-tre.dundee.ac.uk.

  4. Assuming activation went well, you should now see a list of activated SPSS features.
