What does "Standard Offering" mean?

Introduction

Whilst our cloud TRE offers great flexibility in terms of resource and storage, we have a “standard offering” which requires no additional HIC Infrastructure time to provide. This requires no customization and includes the most commonly requested software that are available and open source. This page provides specific examples of what most users can expect from their TRE workspace.

Standard TRE Workspaces

Stanard configurations for workspaces are applicable across all types of projects, e.g. commercial, external to the University of Dundee and internal to the University of Dundee. The below standard open source packages are included:

  • Python with PyTorch and TensorFlow

  • R and RStudio with access to our CRAN proxy

  • VS Code

  • Access to an SQL Server if required

  • A choice of Ubuntu or Windows workspace.

For certain projects, we also provision a Slurm environment, which enables compute to be provisioned on demand for specific jobs.

Academic Project

  1. For external to the University of Dundee academic projects, the above list is available, as well as PyCharm.

  2. For internal University of Dundee projects, users who are staff/ research students at the University of Dundee, have access to central licenses, e.g. MATLAB.

Please discuss your requirements with us as early as possible so we can identify licensing and software needs or explore alternative solutions to support your research.
