Within our TRE, we have several “standard offerings” which require no additional infrastructure time to provision. This generally comes down to what is commonly required and open source. The page below tries to make a distinction between the project types, and what software will be available.

Commercial Project

We will provide standard open source packages which are commonly required.

  • Python with PyTorch and TensorFlow

  • R and RStudio with access to our CRAN proxy

  • VS Code

  • Access to an SQL Server if required

  • A choice of Ubuntu or Windows workspace.

For certain projects, we also provision a Slurm environment, which enables compute to be provisioned on demand for specific jobs.

External Academic Project

Everything available for commercial projects is available in our standard external academic image, as well as PyCharm.

University of Dundee Academic Project

Our university licenses can be used by academics who are bona-fide staff or research students of the University of Dundee. This includes everything from Commercial and External Academic Project workspaces, in addition to MATLAB. Additional software may be provisioned in the future.
