We support secure data analysis in TRE projects and understand that users may need to be added to (or removed) to a project. Changes in TRE users will be confirmed with the Principle Investigator (PI). To allow a researcher user access to a project, HIC will require the following:

  • Request from project’s Principal Investigator (PI) as confirmation to add a user

  • The Confirmation from the PI that the named user should be added to a named project. This should also consider the agreed costings (set, storage, compute considerations for TRE costs)

  • For the user to undertake the mandated Information Governance training to be considered authorised under the “Safe People” principle of the Five Safes Framework. We require all users to complete the “Research, GDPR and confidentiality - what you really need to know” MRC training. Instructions on how to do this are currently under review.

  • The TRE user to sign https://www.dundee.ac.uk/corporate-information/hic-tre-user-agreementEvidence of a pass certificate from the Medical Research Council (MRC) “Research, GDPR and confidentiality quiz” (after first completing the “Good research practice” module). Note that the TRE User Agreement expires after 3 years

Links to the agreement Agreement and information governance Information Governance training will be sent to the user once the PI has requested their access to the project. The completed documents should be sent to The TRE Support team will contact the PI and user and request the evidence for logging by HICSupport@dundee.ac.uk for HIC to log .

The user will then be granted access to the TRE projec. Further projects will only require the PI’s confirmation, if named project in the TRE User Agreement and training certificates are in date. Note that the TRE User Agreement expires after 3 yearsand credentials e-mailed for appropriate access.
